DNA1 DENOISER / DECLICKER / AMBIENCE REGENERATOR

In cooperation with the Pure Notes Company, Weiss developed a State of the Art Denoiser / Declicker and K-Stereo ambience regenerator unit.
- Denoiser with three operation levels (auto / semi auto / manual), which allow for simple, intuitive operation as well as for elaborate parameter tweaking when necessary.
- Declicker
- K-Stereo process (under license from Bob Katz)
- M/S encoder / decoder
DAC1 - D/A CONVERTER
The DAC1 is a stereo 24 bit / 96khz D/A converter designed with the aim of keeping an absolutely uncompromised audio signal path. Much detail and thought was spent on the digital input as well as the analogue output stage. Both have in common the purest possible approach in audio design, aspiring for nothing less than excellence. This is coupled with an ergonomic design that gives the user immediate access to all necessary functions, while keeping an uncluttered and thus easy-to-use front panel. This combination makes a truly professional D/A converter catering for the highest expectations.
EQ-1/PARAMETRIC EQUALIZER
The Weiss 102 series parametric equalizer introduced in the late 1980's was a ground breaking achievement. Since that time Weiss engineers have continued to make upgrades and improvements in digital audio processing. Now they have applied this wealth of experience to produce the most advanced digital audio equalizer possible, the Gambit EQ 1.
Weiss engineers placed top priority on making the front panel easy to use, on achieving the highest possible audio quality and on making the unit affordable to a broad spectrum of professional users.
DS-1 / DE-ESSER / COMP / LIMIT
The Weiss 102 Series split band De-Esser is one of the mastering industy's most highly praised digital products. Now Weiss engineers have taken their De-Esser design and combined it with the best features of the time proven 102 Series Dynamics Processors. The result is the Gambit DS1, a stand alone digital Dynamics Processor with unparalleled performance and sonic integrity. Three modes are avialable : De-esser mode , compressor mode , limiter mode.
POW-R / Psychoacoustically Optimized Wordlength Reduction
POW-R is a wordlength reduction (dithering / noiseshaping) method, to reduce e.g. a 24 bit digital audio signal to e.g. a 16 bit wordlength without introducing any quantization distortions. The Weiss pow-r unit includes the standard set of three algorithms which make up the POW-R scheme, plus in addition offers flat TPDF dithering.
The POW-R unit is available in two versions, a two channel and a four channel version.
SFC-2 / SAMPLING FORMAT CONVERTER
Standard sampling frequency converter chips continuously measure the input frequency and then generate the output frequency and the filter specifications accordingly. This results in coefficient "jitter" because the input signal sampling frequency jitter modulates the cutoff frequency of the digital filter. The SFC2 uses a fixed-ratio scheme where the output is directly derived from the input sampling frequency - therefore no coefficient "jitter", no filter modulation, more transparency.
The SFC2 won the Studio Sound magazine SSAIRA award for the year 2000 in the Converters category !
The main function of the SFC2 will be integrating playback or outboard equipment into an environment that either runs at double- or standard-sampling frequency. To allow this equipment to be positioned anywhere in the processing chain, the SFC2 features two completely independent two-channel sampling frequency converters to simultaneously down- and up-sample a signal. Alternatively, it can also be used to convert the sampling frequency and reduce the wordlength of any two arbitrary audio signals at the same time.
102 MODLAR SOUND PROCESSING SERIES
Basic information on the Weiss 102 Series modular signal processing system.
The weiss 102 Series consists of a broad range of digital audio processing modules suited for CD mastering, mixing and digital audio signal processing. The customer configures a system according to his or her requirements. The modularity of the system allows for a large number of different requirements, from simple interfacing, sampling frequency conversion, level controlling to complex systems with mixing, equalization, dynamics processing etc. Modules can be cascaded to get more EQ bands for instance.
Most of the modules can be remote controlled either from a dedicated, modular Remote Control Desk or from the PENGUIN PC-based automation system.
