SSL X-Rack

X-Rack is a modular rack system with Total Recall that delivers the classic SSL sound in a uniquely versatile form. Each X-Rack chassis holds up to eight modules in any configuration. You could build a stunning SuperAnalogue front end for your recording system, with two different flavours of mic pre (SuperAnalogue and VHD), EQ, dynamics and a powerful master section. Or create an SSL summing mixer including the legendary Stereo Bus Compressor.

SSL Mynx

Mynx is a simple, elegant and cost effective way to get the depth, clarity and characteristic sound of SSL SuperAnalogue processing into your recordings. Mynx is a cool desktop mini X-Rack that allows you to load your choice from the X-Rack module range into a simple two module slot desktop box.

SSL X-Rack/Mynx E series EQ module

The E Series EQ Module features two different EQ’s found on editions of the classic SSL 4000 E console produced between 1979 and 1987. Each EQ has unique response curves and tonal character. They are distinguished by the colors used on the LF knob caps so the two flavors have become known as the ‘Brown’ and ‘Black’ EQ’s. On the E Series EQ Module you can switch between these two different flavors of EQ that have been loved by generations of professional producers.

SSL X-Rack/Mynx E series Dynamics module

The E Series Dynamics Module features a compressor/limiter and an expander/gate, both of which return faithfully to the original SL 611E Series channel strip. A true RMS converter is used in the side chain while the gain element is an all discrete design identical to the Class A VCA chip used in the original unit. The compressor contains additional switching options to defeat the over-easy curve and to use a linear release instead of the more usual logarithmic curve. The result is a compressor with three distinct voices, each with its own musical character.

SSL X-Rack/Mynx VHD Input module

The devilishly warm and dirty mic preamp. A front end that combines classic SSL character with SSL's new Variable Harmonic Drive circuit, delivering a time machine of overdrive characteristics. Includes high- and low-pass filters as well as the famous Listen Mic Compressor.

SSL X-Rack/Mynx Stereo Bus Compressor module

The centre section compressor from the 1980’s G-Series analogue console is an audio production legend. It is a simple unit with a simple purpose; it makes complete mixes sound bigger, with more power, punch and drive. It brings cohesion and strength to your mix without compromising clarity. The Stereo Bus Compressor Module brings this classic ‘audio glue’ to you with spectacular SuperAnalogue audio performance.

SSL X-Rack/Mynx SuperAnalogue Mic Amp module

Angelically pure and versatile input section with a choice of three separate input amplifiers; Mic amp, front panel Instrument input or Line input. Designed for transparency and versatility with a set of High and Low Pass Filters, phase reverse and everything you need from a very classy workhorse.

SSL X-Rack/Mynx SuperAnalogue EQ module

Classic SSL four-band parametric EQ that is a superb all round frequency adjustment tool kit. Whether you need pinpoint accuracy for surgical problem solving, smoother broader sound shaping or a little more aggressive character the SSL EQ will give you what you need. This is a fully featured EQ with high- and low-bands switchable between shelving or fixed Q bell curves and two mid-bands each with variable Q control. E and G characteristic switching.

SSL X-Rack/Mynx Stereo EQ module

The X-Rack Stereo EQ Module is a stereo version of SSL’s console Channel EQ. This stereo version introduces a ‘Selective Mode’ switch which enables independent switching of high & low bands and mid bands between SSL’s E & G series console EQ characteristics to provide an even more versatile EQ design.

SSL X-Rack/Mynx SuperAnalogue Dynamics module

Designed to be the perfect level control tool kit for recording, the Dynamics Module is densely packed with control features yet simple to use. The combination of separate Compressor and Gate/Expander section is powerful, graceful and ideal for gentle and unobtrusive level control.

SSL X-Rack/Mynx Stereo Dynamics module

The X-Rack Stereo Dynamics module is a Stereo version of the powerful SSL channel dynamics. Featuring independent Compressor/ Limiter and Expander/Gate circuits, the Stereo Dynamics module provides the familiar SSL Superanalogue level control tools for both Recording and Mixing applications.

SSL X-Rack/Mynx Four Channel Input module

The Four Input module provides four inputs each with features suited to the tracking process or combining line level sources into a final mix. Each input features, Pan & Level controls, Solo, Insert connection and routing to either the Record or Main Stereo Bus.

SSL X-Rack/Mynx Eight Channel Input module

The Eight Channel Input module is to create a SuperAnalogue summing mixer for situations where the aim is high channel counts, particularly bringing large numbers of audio channels out of a DAW and onto an analogue mix bus to assure the depth and space that only summing outside of the box in the analogue domain can achieve.

SSL X-Rack/Mynx Master Bus module

The vital component that turns X-Rack/Mynx from a processing solution into a mixer. The Master Bus Module provides a signal path to the two X-Rack stereo buses for all of the other modules and offers the user a compact console master section that is surprisingly sophisticated for its size. In combination with a Mynx, it's possible to build the smallest SSL mixer ever, with a full featured monitoring section!

SSL X-Patch

X-Patch is designed to deliver the flexibility of plug-in style routing to boutique analogue processing. Developed from technology at the heart of SSL’s acclaimed Matrix console, X-Patch provides a 16x16 SuperAnalogue routing matrix that can be Ethernet controlled remotely from a standard computer.

SSL X-Desk

Meeting the demand for a world class, compact SSL mixing desk, X-Desk combines a 16 channel SSL SuperAnalogue summing mixer with a compact analogue audio hub for your studio. Small enough to be easily transported, X-Desk fulfills all the essentials of the audio mixing process, with typical SSL attention to detail and depth. Multiple X-Desks and X-Racks can be linked to build the modular system of your dreams.

SSL X-Panda

As a standalone product it serves as a compact, high quality 24 input mixer that can be used for tracking (in conjunction with external mic pres) or master mix summing. In conjunction with an SSL X-Desk, X-Panda introduces 24 additional channels, which via the ‘X-Desk Link’ connection, feed directly into the X-Desk Master Buss, Cue and Aux Send/Return system. In conjunction with an X-Rack summing system, X-Panda adds faders and additional inputs to create a versatile mixer. X-Panda can also be used with any other mixer to expand available channel count.

SSL Alpha Channel
